The One & Only
Warmth and off-the-wall humour...
Alex Horne is a British musical comedian renowned for his multifaceted contributions to comedy. As the host of ‘The Horne Section,’ a live music variety act, and the mastermind behind ‘Taskmaster’ on Dave, Alex has left an indelible mark on the comedy landscape. In ‘Taskmaster,’ he assists the titular ‘Taskmaster,’ Greg Davies, in assigning absurd tasks to comedians, resulting in hilariously chaotic outcomes. Additionally, his iTunes chart-topping podcast, ‘Alex Horne Breaks the News’ (Dave), has garnered widespread acclaim.
Horne’s comedic journey began at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2000 with his show ‘How To Avoid Huge Ships,’ followed by ‘Making Fish Laugh’ in 2003, earning him a Perrier newcomer award nomination. In 2004, he clinched the Chortle Award for Best Breakthrough Act. Collaborating with Tim Key, Horne crafted shows like ‘Every Body Talks’ and ‘When In Rome,’ featuring innovative PowerPoint presentations in a mock-lecture style.
In subsequent years, Horne’s stand-up shows ‘Birdwatching’ (2007) and ‘Wordwatching’ (2008) garnered critical acclaim, leading to book deals with Virgin Publishing. Notably, he embarked on a unique project with Owen Powell to connect with residents from nearly every country living in London.
His comedic versatility shines through in projects like ‘Alex Horne Presents the Horne Section,’ a musical comedy performance series on BBC Radio 4, and ‘The Horne Section Television Programme,’ a live stage show recorded at the London Palladium. Horne’s warmth and off-the-wall humour have earned him a loyal following, with nine solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival and a Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination for ‘Monsieur Butterfly’ in 2014. A master of blending the serious with the silly, Alex Horne continues to captivate audiences with his unpredictable and uproarious comedy.
