The One & Only

Andy Robinson

Andy is one of the finest comperes working on the circuit today

Andy Robinson boasts an impressive resume, having performed in over 4000 gigs across a variety of renowned venues such as Glee Clubs, Comedy Stores, Highlights, Jongleurs, and even unconventional spaces like exhibition rooms in art galleries. His versatility extends to television, where he’s served as a warm-up artist for numerous popular shows including Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Shooting Stars, Later with Jools Holland, Jonathan Ross, among many others—some well-known, others more obscure (though he’s quite relieved that “What’s In Your Celebrity Fridge?” never made it to series).

In addition to his solo gigs, Andy has shared the stage with comedy heavyweights like Sean Lock, Rich Hall, and Paddy McGuiness. Notably, he’s been Jo Brand’s trusted support act for the past decade, although there was that one time when jazz legend John McLaughlin gave him quite the reprimand.

His talents extend beyond the stage, as he’s written and performed for various radio programs, albeit with mixed results in terms of longevity. Andy’s television credits also include writing and presenting for ITV One’s “Earshot,” where he interviewed notable musicians like Amy Winehouse, Keane, and Razorlight, as well as lesser-known artists with arguably superior songs.

Recognition for Andy’s contributions to the comedy scene is not in short supply. His weekly comedy night at Birmingham Glee Club Comedy Carousel has garnered him several awards, including the prestigious title of Best Midlands Club Night at the 2015 Chortle Awards. He’s also been honored with multiple Midlands Comedy Awards for Best Compère and Act in 2014, and most recently, Best Club Night in both 2018 and 2019.
