Biography

Dara Ó Briain is a beloved stand-up comedian and television presenter hailing from the UK & Ireland. He’s renowned for his hosting duties on popular shows like Mock The Week, Robot Wars, and Three Men in a Boat, showcasing his wit and charm to audiences across BBC Television. Currently, he also hosts Comedy Central’s Blockbusters. His latest tour, “So… Where Were We?” was a smashing success, winning Best Tour at the 2023 Chortle Awards and taking him across the globe, from the UK and Ireland to Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, the Middle East, and North America.

Starting his career as a children’s presenter on RTÉ, Dara honed his stand-up skills on the Irish comedy circuit after studying Mathematical Physics at University College Dublin. He gained prominence as the host of the topical panel show Don’t Feed the Gondolas before co-founding Happy Endings Productions, known for hits like The Panel.

In the UK, Dara’s breakthrough came with hosting BBC Two’s The Live Floor Show, leading to guest appearances on Have I Got News for You and eventually hosting eighteen series of Mock the Week. He’s also known for his work on shows like Robot Wars, Three Men in a Boat, and Stargazing Live.

Beyond television, Dara is a sought-after award show host, regularly presiding over the BAFTA Games Awards. He’s a prolific touring comedian, having performed globally and recorded five live DVDs for Universal Pictures. Dara is also an accomplished author, with bestselling books like “Tickling The English” and “Beyond The Sky” earning critical acclaim and nominations. In 2018, he released the follow-up book “Secret Science – The Amazing World Beyond your Eyes”.
